Trailhead

Out of the town of Worcester, turn onto Minster Brook Road and continue for 1.5 miles. Turn right onto Hampshire Hill Road and continue for 2.5 miles, then turn left onto Mountain Road where the parking area is 0.1 miles ahead.

Description

The beginning of this trail winds through the thickly wooded C.C. Putnam State Forest then begins a challenging ascent up Mount Worcester. As the trail approaches the summit, it becomes rocky and requires some scrambling. At the summit on a clear day, hikers can enjoy views of the Green, White, and Adirondack Mountains. From the summit, hikers can either turn around and return the way they came, or continue to the Worcester Range's other summits via the Skyline Trail.

Other Information

Please note, camping is not permitted on the summit ridge or above 2500’ elevation.

Leave No Trace Principle

Leave What You Find

Leave the trail work to the pros: they will add or remove blazes, cairns (stone trail markers), structures, and trail improvements as deemed necessary.
