Description

Sleepy Hollow specializes in intermediate and advanced single track mountain biking, approximately 20 km total. Bike the 5-mile Yellow Loop and take a self-guided tour around the trail system. Also popular is the Tatooine loop with its epic bermed descent crafted by expert trail stewards Jeff Hildebrand & Dave Kelly. Skywalker singletrack is probably the most biked trail and heads up to Butternut Cabin where the view is fantastic. Yoda is very popular for expert riders. A printable trail map is available at the Ski and Bike Center's website.

All users of the trail system must sign in at the Sleepy Hollow Inn and pay the trail fee (Fellowship of the Wheel members ride for free, but still must sign in). This can be done at the Kiosk in front of the bike shop during all daylight hours or in the bike shop if open. A hose is available to wash down your bikes, located in front of the bike shop near the stone wall.

  • Mountain biking and hiking trails are open sunrise to sunset using self-pay kiosk. Maps available in the kiosk or Bike Shop.
  • Mountain bike rentals no longer available. Helmets required.
  • Open from May 15th - Oct 24th. If it has been raining and the trails are wet, please inquire before riding.

Sleepy Hollow's bike trail system also connects to the Hinesburg Town Forest and Carse Lands, where many miles of single track have been professionally constructed by the Fellowship Of The Wheel. The connector trail (~ 2 miles from the lodge to the entrance to the town forest trail system) is mostly downhill and challenging, but combining Sleepy Hollow's trail system with the Hinesburg Town Forest (and Carse) provides a fantastic amount of great riding. Exploring both trail systems takes at least two good days of riding for most intermediate/advanced riders.

Other Information

PLEASE NOTE: Pets are permitted on the trails at Sleepy Hollow, but they must be kept on leash in the parking lot and near the lodge.

The Center hosts weddings and meetings in the Round Barn Event Center and group accommodations are available at the Sleepy Hollow Inn and there are 8 bunks with mattresses at the rustic Butternut Cabin. The Center also offers excellent Nordic skiing and snowshoeing trails in the winter months.
