Ahern State Park offers a mix of trail experiences, including shoreline walking, wooded paths, and a network of mountain biking trails primarily built and maintained by the Central NH New England Mountain Bike Association (CNH NEMBA). While some trails offer scenic views and forest immersion, most of the system is geared toward mountain biking, and several paths are rough, steep, or washed out in places.
Accessibility Note:
The only reliably accessible route is the main roadway beyond the gate, which is wide, gently graded, and surfaced in compacted gravel. This road provides the most stable surface and easiest travel through the park for visitors with mobility limitations.
An additional trail—the Fire Road Trail—has been noted as potentially accessible, but it is washed out in spots and may be too steep on the south end for some users. Visitors should use caution and assess conditions in person.
Map Warning:
The trail map currently posted at kiosks and online is outdated. Trails like the Sunset Trail and Connector Trail have been rerouted, and new signage may be limited or missing.
Hours: Park gates close daily at 6:30pm
