Saxon Hill Park has an immensely popular 3-mile loop dubbed "Flo." New mountain bikers can get a handle on the basics of mountain biking, while experts can come let it all hang out on a loop that is fast, swoopy, and characterized by great flow. Look for the new trail, "MoFlo," on the right hand side of the road, right beyond the Thompson Drive gate. "MoFlo" will take you to "Flo" in grand flow-some style. Flo will take anywhere from 20 minutes to 1 hour to ride depending on the skill of the rider. The loop was designed to be ridden in a clockwise direction, but can be ridden in the opposite direction; this is the more challenging option. Flo is rated as an easier intermediate trail, but is also a great place to bring eager new riders, as they can be assured of leaving with a big smile on their face.
The following trails are adaptive mountain bike friendly:
Upper Flow - 0.8 miles, moderate. Includes technical root and rock features, berms, a few small jumps. Less sandy and often wetter than Low Flow.
Watertower Connector - 0.2 miles, moderate

Essex Parks & RecreationThe primary parking area is located on Thompson Drive. From VT-15, take Saxon Hill Road 0.9 miles and turn right onto Thomson Drive. Go about 180 feet to the parking area at the road intersection.
There is an additional very small parking area with space for 2 or 3 cars on the west side Saxon Hill Road, 0.2 miles north of the trailhead.
Trail users are asked not to park on Thompson Drive because access to the trail from there is across private land. Please respect landowner wishes and park at the designated lots instead. You are encouraged to carpool or ride your bike to the trailhead! Thanks for your respect of the neighbors.
