Description

The trail to Silver Ledges departs the Beaver Brook Road and immediately crosses Beaver Brook using a series of natural boulders. After the brook, the trail follows level terrain through open hardwoods for a short distance before climbing steeply for just under 0.5 miles. The trail is highlighted by numerous boulders as well as abundant blueberries and softwoods that thrive on shallow, acidic soils. Just below the summit, a short spur offers views to the southeast from a small ledge (including to Mount Moosilauke in the distance and Beaver Meadows below). At the summit, the trail ends at a large split boulder with nearby views of Lake Groton, Little Deer, and Big Deer Mountains to the north.
