Canty Trail to Blue Ridge Mountain
From Route 4 in Mendon proceed east to the junction with the Old Turnpike Road. Turn north onto Old Turnpike Road and continue approximately 1.3 miles to the trailhead on the left (north) side of the road. There is a very small pull off the lefthand side of the road. Trailhead has been moved a few years ago. Do not park at the gate.
Trail leaves lane and follows footpath into swampy area. Follow trail across various brook/creek crossings. At 0.7 miles, reach larger brook where trail turns right from the woods road, crosses brook and climbs steeply up west bank to join another woods road. At 1.3 miles enter Green Mountain National Forest. Entering an evergreen forest the woods road gives way to a trail and climbs to a junction just south of the Blue Ridge Mountain summit at 3278 feet. Follow either spur at the top for great views.
