Description

Knights Hill Trail begins on Dunfield Rd, but soon leaves it heading east across Knights Hill Ridge. The terrain is very varied - mostly wooded but with some open fields and some wetlands. There are numerous view points along the trail. About midway across there is a side trail that heads off south and traverses dense spruce forest, soon reaching the summit of Knights Hill and shortly thereafter a southerly facing view point. The total distance of this spur is about 0.6 miles round trip. Back on Knights Hill Trail, shortly after connecting with the Blitzer Easement Loop, the train begins descending toward Rowe Mtn Rd. There is good signage and there are blazes all along Knights Hill Trail.

Trail Tips

Respect Wildlife
Keep wildlife wild: do not feed, follow, approach, or otherwise harass wild animals. Doing so may alter their natural behaviors.

Trailhead Information

Parking is somewhat limited at either end of this trail, so if you have a large group it is better to carpool to the trailhead.

The trailhead on the Dunfield Rd side is reached as follows: From Rt 103 in Bradford, turn on Center Rd and go under the Bement covered bridge. Continue on Center Rd about 2.3 miles to a four corner intersection. Go straight across this intersection which will put you on County Rd. Continue on County Rd for about 2 miles, where you will take a left turn onto Dunfield Rd. After about 0.3 miles, Dunfield Rd becomes a class 6 road and very difficult to proceed any further by vehicle. There are wide spots along the roadway here that will allow several cars to park.

The trailhead on the Rowe Mtn Rd side is reached as follows: From the four corner intersection mentioned above, turn left onto Rowe Mtn Rd. Go up Rowe Mtn Rd for about 2 miles to #463: a farmhouse and barn on your right. There is space for a few cars to pull off the road and park here. Walk BETWEEN the house and the barn and you begin immediately climbing Knights Hill Trail.
