Hubbard Park is a large community park accessed from multiple neighborhoods and trailheads. Multiple parking lots serve the different park areas but maps and signage are sparse. Most trails are for pedestrian use only, but bikes are allowed on designated paths. There are many options for exploring the woods, meadows, creeks and cliffs of the area. The 54-feet tall Hubbard Tower, built in 1915 and finished in 1930, allows visitors a wonderful view from its lookout.
The “Stone Tower Trail” from the New Shelter, where there is accessible parking, provides a firm 10-foot wide path from the picnic shelter to the Tower. The out and back trail is approximately 1 mile each way with a steady 8% slope. Two 40-foot sections have steeper slopes of approximately 12%. The area around the stone tower is flat and offers a picnic table on a firm grassy area. See Trail Access Information below for more information about this Accessible Experience.
People are welcome to gather at the various shelters and picnic areas. Groups of over 25 must fill out a group permission form to reserve a shelter. Visit the Montpelier Parks website to learn more.
