Description

There are four trails that cross the Chandler Reservation:

Cross Minks Trail: This trail traverses the Chandler Reservation from west to east, starting on Weaver Road, crossing the Mink Hills, intersecting the White and Chandler Trails, and ending on Bean Road after 1.7 miles.

White Trail: This trail travels north from the intersection with the Cross Minks Trail for 0.4 miles. It ends at the dirt Osgood Road, which continues northeast to Bean Road.

Chandler Trail: This trail travels north from the Southern Trailhead, intersecting the Cross Minks trail after 0.7 miles near the summit of Mink Hill where a fallen fire tower sits.

Woods Walk: This trail begins at the Southern Trailhead and forms a loop with the southern half of the Chandler trail.

Tree blow-downs are present on some trails due to recent storms.  Trails are in the process of being cleared.

Motorized, wheeled vehicles are not permitted on hiking trails.

Other Information

The Chandler Reservation, owned by the Town of Warner, consists of approximately 1524 acres. Topography is generally steep, with a high percentage of the land in excess of 25% slope. The land includes the summits of the Mink Hills, the highest elevation being at 1,650' above sea level. A son of U.S. Senator William E. Chandler gave the original tract of about 800 acres to the Town in 1919. Other parcels have been added to the Reservation in subsequent years. The property is separate from, but adjacent to, the 400-acre Harriman Chandler State Forest.

Trail Manager

The Chandler Reservation is owned by the Town of Warner.  The trails are maintained and coordinated by the Chandler Reservation Committee.

Trailhead Information

From Warner Village, proceed south on North Village Road. Turn right on Mink Hill Lane. Park at the cul-de-sac located at the end of Mink Hill Lane. Enter trail system at arrows and sign.

There are several other trailheads that provide access to the trail system on the Chandler Reservation, but the Mink Hill Lane trailhead is the only access point with plentiful and reliable parking and easy vehicle access.
