The Blitzer Easement Loop climbs from an elevation of about 1250 ft. along Rowe Mountain Road, to an elevation of 1732 ft. along the Knights Hill ridge. The loop consists of a West Side Trail and an East Side trail and can be hiked in either direction (clockwise or counter-clockwise). The slopes at the lower elevations are moderate, but some are quite step at the upper elevation. Mostly, the trails wander through a beautiful pine-hemlock-oak-spruce forest. At the upper end, Knights Hill Trail is used for about 1/4 mile as a connector between the West Side and East Side trails. There are several excellent viewpoints (facing northerly) along the Knights Hill trail portion. On a clear day, the White Mountains are easily visible. The loop has excellent signage to guide you along the way.
From Rt. 103 in Bradford, turn onto Center Rd and go under the Bement covered bridge. Continue on Center Rd about 2.3 miles to a four corner intersection. Go left on Rowe Mountain Rd. Continue up Rowe Mountain Rd for about 1.3 miles, where you will see a 'Blitzer Easement' sign on your right. This is the trailhead for the West Side Trail of the Blitzer Easement Loop. There is a small clearing here, to accommodate 2 vehicles. If it is filled, you may also park along Rowe Mountain Rd. You may start up the West Side Trail here or walk about 50 yards further up Rowe Mountain Rd to the trailhead for the East Side Trail.
