The beginning of this trail winds through the thickly wooded C.C. Putnam State Forest then begins a challenging ascent up Mount Worcester. As the trail approaches the summit, it becomes rocky and requires some scrambling. At the summit on a clear day, hikers can enjoy views of the Green, White, and Adirondack Mountains. From the summit, hikers can either turn around and return the way they came, or continue to the Worcester Range's other summits via the Skyline Trail.
Primitive camping is allowed at designated areas within CC Putnam State Forest. For more information see the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation primitive camping webpage.
