Description

Trails loop to bluffs above the Connecticut River passing through mature pine/hemlock and mixed hardwood forest. Moderate slopes. Main loop is marked with blue and white blazes; the intersecting trail is blazed in blue.

Trail length doesn't include the walk from the parking area to the trailhead, an additional 0.07 miles.

Trailhead Information

From the Wheelock Street/Main Street intersection in Hanover, NH: Head south onto Main Street for 1.3 miles, passing by Maple Street and across Mink Brook to the Pine Knoll Cemetery. Turn right into the cemetery entrance and continue east (staying left at the fork) until you arrive at the Water Reclamation Facility (wastewater treatment facility) gate. Park to the right just outside the gate. Walk back along the access road to the west until you see the blue and white signs marking the South Esker Natural Area. Turn right to access the trail.

Another entrance to the trail also located at the end of Spencer Road (south of Pine Knoll Cemetery access).
