Description

Easiest Trails

Pond Loop (1A): This easy trail is 0.4 miles and is a perfect trail for skiers of all levels. It offers skate and classical skiing on easy rolling terrain and provides access to other trails.

Practice Loop (1B): This easy trail is 0.3 miles and is located behind the Nordic center. It offers skate and classical skiing on easy rolling terrain and provides access to other trails.

Croydon Connector (1C): This easy trail is 0.4 miles and serves as a connector to trails 1 and 3.

Lazy Loop (1): This trail is one of the easiest trails, only 1.1 miles long and is located right out the door of the Cross-Country Center. It offers skate and classical skiing on easy rolling terrain and provides access to other trails.

Moderate Trails

Brook Trail (5): The Brook Trail and Troll house are most easily approached by following trails 1 and 4, and descending to trail 5 by the condominiums. The Brook Trail is picturesque, following the beautiful meandering stream that is fed by Eastman Pond. Stop at the Troll House and pick up a token from the Troll's mailbox and bring it back to the Cross-Country Center to be entered into a monthly drawing! The return home continues along the brook and is then followed by a long assent to the Cross-Country Center.

Croydon Run (3): Croydon Run is 1.8 miles long and starts at the end of the Center parking lot. This trail offers an excellent intermediate experience. Starting along a relatively flat section on trails 1 and 4, Croydon Run offers beautiful views of Mount Croydon before descending rather steeply to a second flat section. Finally, the trail ascends up the sledding hill, returning to the center. Croydon Run is groomed for classical and skate skiing.

Lake Trail (6) (Pet Friendly): The Lake Trail is 1.5 miles round trip and offers a mile of skiing through rolling hills in the woods. A wonderful trail for the whole family, including 4-legged members.

Longwood Loop: Longwood Loop is 1.6 miles long and is located off Trail 3, Croydon Run. This trail offers intermediate terrain with a long gradual downhill followed by a long gradual uphill. This loop can be skied in either direction. Longwood loop is groomed for classical and skate skiing.

Sunrise Crest (4): Sunrise Crest is an excellent trail consisting of mostly intermediate terrain other than one hill known as "Sunrise Hill". Sunrise Hill is steep but has a long run out so that it can be conquered by taking your time. A relatively level section follows the hill. After a short steep assent, the rest of the trail is rolling terrain groomed for classical and skate skiing. Sunrise Crest trail also offers access to trails off of the golf course.

Difficult Trails

Bright Slope (7) (Pet Friendly): Trail 7, a narrow un-groomed trail excellent for exploring nature and wildlife. The trail passes through a wetland and rock outcroppings climbing up a very steep rise and joining trail 8 where it descends back to South Cove. This trail is best  for snowshoeing.

Deer Path (8): This is the staff's favorite trail! This trail is 3.2 miles long and takes you deep into the woods and over some excellent varied terrain with spectacular scenery. It is great for snow shoeing as well skiing. At the halfway point, you will come to the Ice Cascades which is an area where frozen water covers the cliffs along the trail. Deer Path also intersects with Trail, 9 John's Glenn for even more skiing.

Andy’s Alley (10): Andy’s Alley is a narrow trail that is accessed from trail 5 and then runs beside Eastman brook then through wetland and wooded areas. The trail is skiable only with a hard freeze and ample snow cover. The trail is groomed only with a snowmobile and drag. The trail is mostly flat but does have twists and turns and a few short ups and downs. The trail provides access to the John’s Glenn ski area without road crossings.
